Beautiful Sri Astasambhu Temple, Puri




Sri Astasambhu temple is small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Tiadi Sahi of Puri. In native language 'Asta' means 'Eight' and 'Sambhu' is another name of Lord Shiva. Astasambhu temple houses a cluster of eight different colored shiva lingas made of precious stones. Some are white while some are red and black. The shiv lingas appear different in color when viewed from different directions. The color changes due to the reflection of the sun. These eight shiv lingas are named after Lord Shiva.

The temple is constructed from grey sandstone and the style used for building was dry masonry which belongs to the Kalinga style of architecture. The temple has a vimana and a porch. When the vimana is elevated, it stands 3.85m tall. Apart from the main deity Lord Shiva, the four-armed Ganesh shrine is a must visit, because of the unique pose of the deity. Two upper hands are broken whereas the parasu can be seen in the lower left hand and the lower right hand has the rosary with the varadamudra posture.

Lord Shiva Temple In Srinagar




The Shankaracharya temple, also known as the Jyesteshwara temple or Pas-Pahar is situated on the top of the Shankaracharya hill, also called Gopadari hill in Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Shankaracharya temple has a high octagonal platform and it can be reached by a flight of approximately 243 steps. The sidewalls of these steps once had some valuable inscriptions. In 1961, a statue of Adi Shankaracharya was erected in the temple.
Originally, the temple was constructed at this site in the 2nd century BC by the son of the Mauryan King Asoka, the great. The temple has become a landmark for Srinagar city. The approximate height of the temple from the end of the road to the hill, before the temple platform is 550 ft. The main shrine consists of a circular cell. The sanctum is covered by a ply board ceiling, concealing the sandstone slabs which are supported by lintels. A huge oval shaped Shiva Lingam encircled by a snake. is placed in the sanctum. It is believed that Raja Gopadatya renovated the temple in 371 BC and renamed it as Gopadri. The great philosopher and sage Shankaracharya has resided here when he visited Kashmir. Hence, the temple was named Shankaracharya temple.

Lord Swaminarayana Temple Is one of the Best Hindu Temple In Chicago. It is also One of the most prominent features of the heritage of Swaminarayan is temple architecture. The images in the temples built by Swaminarayan are the evidence of the priority of Krishna. All of the temples constructed during his life show some form of Krishna, and all temples since have such worshipable murtis. In the temples of the dioceses of Ahmedabad and Vadtal, they are predominantly a central altar or a shrine. Human forms are predominant for an known exception of a Hanuman temple at Sarangpur, where Hanuman is the central figure. The temples have accommodations for sadhus built next to them. Stones were quarried in far places and carried to the temple sites.

Swaminarayan temples, like other Hindu temples, have walkways around the central shrine to allow worshipers to circumambulate the shrine. These are often decorated with designs and inlaid marble. One side of the railing is reserved for women, as Swaminarayan propagated that men and women should be separated in temples to allow full concentration on god. Men do a specified number of prostrations (as decided by themselves). In front of the men's section, there is a small section reserved for ascetics and special guests. There is great variety in form and nature of the central images, in front of which are gold- or silver-plated doors that open during darshan.

Beautiful Bhrigu Rishi Temple, Gujrat




Bhrigu Rishi is one of the Saptarshis. He is son of Lord Brahma, a devotee of Lord Shiva, father of Lakshmi mata. Once he tested Trimurtis and cursed them for their mistakes. He is one of the Prajapatis. He is father of Jmadagni maharshi, Shukracharya, Chavana maharshi and grandfather of Parasurama. Because of this ashram, this place was previously called as Bhrigu kaksha, later transformed as Bharuch. Thousands of pilgrims visit Brighu Rishi temple in Bharuch, which derives its name from Brighu Rishi. The city has great importance in the Hindu mythology. Legend says that Bhrigu left his hometown in Haryana and migrated to Bharuch on the banks of River Narmada. It is said that this temple was built to honour Maharishi Bhrigu who attained sainthood by maintaining a perfect balance between wisdom and activity.

Maharishi Bhrigu was the saint who wrote the first Indian Astrological work, the Bhrigu Samitha, which contains about five million horoscopes. He tried to write down the destiny of everyone in the universe. The temple's beauty and aura is just amazing. The temple has well carved designs and beautiful architectural presence. The temple was built by the Marathas between 1675 AD and 1686 AD.

Vaijnath Mahadev Temple, Jitodia, Anand, Gujarat.This is very unique Temple because this is one an only temple in the world where water is coming out from Shiv Linga itself. As per legends its believed that originally this Linga was created by Bhima ( Pandava) during there agnatvas, to do worship of Lord Shiva, as years passes this Linga became underground due to weather conditions. This area is also know as Hidimba Van (Hidimba (a.k.a. Bhutandevi) is the wife of the Pandava Bhima and mother of Ghatotkacha). so now this area was used by local people to grazing there animals, one day a cowboy saw that one of her cow is releasing her entire milk on one particular place, now this thing happens every day. Cowboy was shocked, so he informed about this Miracle to King of that area Sri Shindharaj ji, he send his persons to identify this event, there was a small hill type part on ground where cow is releasing her milk, so they decided to excavate that place. during excavation they found that their iron rods are banging with some structure, so they stop and found this Shiv Linga & inform the King about it. King Shindharaj ji decided to remove that Linga from Forest area and install at his place, so he ordered to remove it. even after so much efforts they are unable to find the end of Linga. so they again inform the king. that night god came in to king's dream and gave him order to keep Linga where it is & construct a temple over there only. if you see the Linga you can find so many holes on it, from where the water is coming out. This water is coming out from so many years, no one knows from where this water is coming, local people called this water 'Gangajal' and believe that it has divine power of healing, and take it as a Prasadam. few year back District collector send his experts to check this water, after doing water testing in lab they found some unusual things that this water has same quality as good as Ganga river's water, and even different then available in local area. it's unbelievable
